Toyota Harrier Hybrid available for import
MR-2 import prices are heading rapidly upwards (like all other classic Japanese turbo cars up to the early 2000’s).
This is one of the models we receive enquiries for every week so demand is strong.
They will become eligible for import to Australia by mid to late 2019 under import regulation changes currently in progress.
You need only look at recent auction prices of low km AW11 models to see what is going to happen to the SW20’s in coming years.
As always, the value is in clean condition but most of all – LOW kms:
1984 Toyota MR-2 AW11, 5 speed manual, grade 4.5 B, 13,371 km – 10 May 2018
Sold for 2.285 million Yen (over $40,000 on road in Australia @ 81 Yen to the dollar).
1989 Toyota MR-2 AW11, 5 speed manual, grade 4 A, 3,515 km – 24 May 2018
Sold for 2.585 million Yen (over $45,000 on road in Australia @ 81 Yen to the dollar).
1993 Toyota MR-2 SW20 GT Coupe, 5 speed manual, grade 4.5 B, 61,680 km – 25 May 2018
Sold for 1 million Yen (about $21,000 on road in Australia @ 81 Yen to the dollar).
There are other decent condition 5 speed SW20’s (with higher kms and not as clean as the above example) selling in the 350,000 to 600,000 Yen range right now.
However, this won’t last long as we have seen with so many other models already as collectors swoop on them around the 25 year old mark.
Quality examples of vehicles this age take time to source.
So, if you want one of these classic MR-2’s, our advice is to act quickly and as early as possible.
We will be providing further updates on the import regulation changes including the new 25 Year Rule, so stay in touch on Facebook, our general Mailing List or by regularly visiting our Blog.
Please note this is just a snapshot in time with prices moving rapidly upwards on these and other collector models.
Further sale price data and examples are available, so simply get in touch if you’d like more information.
